Paris / New York Crisscross Views

4 November - 11 December 2010

22 East 60th St, New York, NY 10022

This exhibition in New York presents a number of significant pictures from the Maison Européenne de la Photographie collection. It features some forty black and white prints, the idea being to focus on US photographers who have worked in Paris and French photographers who have worked in New York. The selection brings together major artists from the second half of the 20th century: Duane Michals, Ralph Gibson and Bruce Davidson from the US, and Raymond Depardon, Jeanloup Sieff and Bernard-Pierre Wolff from France. The photographs by the three Americans were commissioned by the City of Paris between 1986 and 2006.

Gabriel Bauret, who has written several books on photography, regularly curates exhibitions, and was joint artistic director of the 2006 Month of Photography, is the curator for this show.

Organized with support from the Robert Mapplethorpe Foundation.

The FIAF (French Institute Alliance Francaise) is a non profit organisation located in the heart of Manhattan. Its mission is to foster cultural dialogue between French speakers and Americans via a broad range of arts initiatives.
